CHEF Funded Writing Course
March 12th-August 30th
with Tawnya Selene Renelle

This fully funded program is FREE to residents of Renfrewshire and Scotland.

The course will begin online via Zoom on March 12th from 6-8pm.

Deadline for registration is March 6th.

Ideally, we ask that all participants are able to commit to the entire course. However, all sessions will be recorded, and you will have access to an online portal with materials.

March

Our program will begin with an optional 4 sessions dedicated to individuals who are interested in learning to run workshops and develop curriculums. These will take place on March 12, 19, 26, and 27.

Participants taking part in this first section of the program can then opt into teaching a one-hour workshop during the remainder of the program. They will be paid for this experience.  You don't need to teach a one hour workshop to take part in this element of the program.

The first month of mentorship meetings will be for those interested in this part of the program.

* Note you do not need to register for this first component to take part in the workshops and mentorship which will begin in April.

From April to August the course will be as follows:

  • Every Tuesday evening from 6-8pm we will gather for a creative workshop. Throughout the months we will have guest educators, have workshops on reading, and cover a range of topics including nature, love, geography, history and more. We will also have several skills and professional development workshops.

  • Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2pm-6pm there will be optional mentorship meetings. Each one-to-one meeting will last 45min. They are an opportunity for participants to discuss creative work, funding applications, university programs, and any other creative support you may need.

  • The last Wednesday of each month there will be an optional critique group meeting where participants will share, read, and discuss each other's work.

Anthology

All participants will be invited to submit a short work for publication in an anthology celebrating the course. The last week of August Tawnya Renelle will be in Scotland to host a one day writing retreat at Kairos Women+ and a launch event/open mic for the anthology.
